JAM Department of Jazz Music

JAM provides the basis for freedom and high level creativity in music performance with key elements including scales, charts, improvisation, great composers and masterpieces. JAM further drills cadets on innovative styles and originality and also incorporates African music into Jazz as in Afro Jazz, and more. For a period of 24 months (4 semesters in 2 years) trainees shall be introduced to music theory, concepts in jazz music and cultural literatures.


Trainees shall be trained on the practice and performance of a variety of jazz instruments and further on practical and operational strategies in the forming, training and managing jazz bands; its instruments and equipment. Trainees shall also be taught and drilled on the use of Music Software Applications, the digital economy and Cultural entrepreneurship to cultivate industrial musicianship.
