ATM Department of African Traditional Music
ATM provides training on African traditional musical practices and performances with focus on musical instrument types, rhythms, melodies and harmonies in cultural entertainment; multi-cultural diversity, cultural heritage and the protection and preservation of African Music. For a period of 24 months (4 semesters in 2 years) trainees shall be introduced to music theory, traditional and cultural educational concepts and literatures.
Trainees shall be trained and drilled in the practice and performance of traditional music and further on practical and operational strategies in the forming, training and managing traditional music bands; their instruments and equipment. Trainees shall also be taught and drilled on the use of Music Software Applications, the digital economy and Cultural entrepreneurship to cultivate industrial musicianship.
